Middlebury EMS is a basic Life support ambulance and heavy rescue provider. MEMS operates with 3 Navistar medium duty Medtec ambulances, an American Fire & Rescue heavy rescue truck, and suburban 4 X 4 BLS Non-transport support vehicle. Staffing is done with paid daytime personnel and Volunteers covering weekends and night calls. The department currently is working toward becoming a paramedic provider in the very near future. MEMS is an active member of the American Ambulance Association and the Indiana Ambulance Association.

Middlebury Fire Department operates with three custom pumpers: 1 brush unit, 2 peterbilt tankers(1-3,000 gal. & 1-4,000 gal.), and 1 international 2,000 gal. tanker. The department is staffed with three paid daytime personnel for fire and EMS response during daytime hours with volunteer response. The department is currently working on the purchase of a ladder truck in the near future. MDF is an active member of the IVFA and Elkhart County Fire Association.

Middlebury Fire Department and EMS are under the Middlebury Township Trustee's Office. The Township Trustee is Gordon Nusbaum; Township office number is 825-3446.

Township Advisory Board Members are: Lloyd Troyer, Charles Teall, and William Long. This board meets about 3-4 times per year.
